Southfields Academy

FAQs

Can I apply to Southfields Academy if I don’t live in Wandsworth?

Yes. If you would like your child to come to the academy, simply put Southfields Academy as your first choice on your local borough’s application form. This will go into the pan-London application system for secondary schools.

Will my child take the Wandsworth test?

If you live in Wandsworth your child will take the test at primary school. If you live outside of Wandsworth, your child does not need to take the test to come to Southfields Academy.

If my child doesn’t take the Wandsworth test, how will you know his/her abilities?

We test all new students at Southfields Academy so that we have our own data. This enables us to accurately track and monitor your child’s progress throughout the time they are at the academy.

My child plays an instrument – can he have lessons at Southfields Academy?

We offer a range of instrumental and singing lessons, many of which are free. Some of these are carried out in conjunction with the nearby World Heart Beat Music Academy, which gives students the opportunity to learn and perform with famous names in the music industry

How much homework will my child receive each night?

We have high expectations for the homework set for our students. To see the amount of time each student should spend doing this, please visit the Homework and Extra-Curricular information on this website.

My child loved the pool but can’t swim, will you teach her?

All students are given swimming lessons during PE lessons in our 25 metre pool.

Your 3G football pitches are impressive but what other sports can my child play?

During PE all students will take part in a range of sports including athletics, trampolining, water polo, table tennis and netball. We also use the facilities at the Aspire Centre to give the students experience of rock climbing, the fitness gym and fencing. A wide range of after school sports and activity clubs is also available.

What sort of food do you serve the students?

Only healthy, freshly produced food is served in our dining hall. Unlike many schools, we have our own kitchen which produces a range of tasty and nutritionally balanced hot and cold meals. Fresh fruit, salad, water and juices are also available.
